In 1978, Mary Grossman, a single mother raising her daughter, moved to Huntington Beach, Ca where she saw an opportunity to purchase a small pet store with one part time groomer.  Working seven days a week from 7am to 7pm her business grew into a very successful pet grooming and retail operation. With a staff totaling eight, the business groomed up to 120 dogs and cats on busy days. With a commitment to the highest quality service, Mary was continually searching for the best products she could find. Little did she know that her search would come to an end after meeting Joseph Meeks, a chemist and her future husband

Mary soon learned why so many of the so-called ‘best’ products at that time were still harsh on her groomers and soon Joe started to create natural shampoos and conditioners for her. In 1986, a new manufacturing business was born and to this day Nature’s Specialties uses the best natural ingredients for all of their shampoos and conditioners all of which are nontoxic and biodegradable.

Nature’s Specialties products are recognized in the grooming industry as the best premium products available today and are used by many competitive groomers.  We appreciate the trust and loyalty groomers’ have awarded us and have been showing our support through sponsorship with many professional grooming competitions such as “The Winner’s Circle” for many years, offering awards as high as $30,000.00. Nature’s Specialties products are also used on Animal Planet’s reality TV series ‘Groomer Has It‘ and the CBS hit ’Greatest American Dog‘.
